Mycologist | Systematist | Curator
Hi, I’m Rabern.
I’m a chytridiomycologist and the Curator of Fungi at the Purdue University Herbaria (Arthur Fungarium (PUR) and Kriebel Herbarium (PUL)).
I primarily study microscopic, zoosporic eufungi (that is, organisms within the Kingdom Fungi that possess a motile reproductive cell stage). Additionally, I examine mushrooms, molds, and pathogens of invertebrates and plants.
The Fungi encompass a wide variety of organisms on the tree of life that most people don’t take into consideration. I find joy in helping people become aware of the biodiversity of the Fungi and their interactions with our world.
